Saint Augustine, Florida. (Sept. 23, 2008) – This bistro-style full service restaurant is an establishment where tourist and locals have been known to have breakfast in the morning and return for lunch and/or dinner in the same day!
The 60 seat establishment is colorfully decorated with linen tablecloths in the look of classic textiles from the Provence region of France and wildflower art decorates the walls. Brian Helm, Chef/Owner, has a degree in Culinary Arts, from the prestigious Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island and more than twenty years of experience - never once veering away from this creative art. Before opening the Wildflower Café, Helm gained experience by working at the best restaurants, private clubs and resorts spanning the country.
While serving as Executive Chef of the Sandestin Resort, the signature restaurant, Elephant Walk, was recognized one of the top 200 restaurants in the state of Florida by Florida Trend magazine. Chef Helm's Tahitian duck, Sri Lankan tuna, and gumbo were singled out for special mention by Florida Trend's restaurant reviewer, Robert Tolf. Chef Helm's award-winning Lobster Ragout was featured in numerous newspaper articles and on “Florida Style,” a television show that features local chefs.
Popular breakfast items served at the Wildflower Cafe include Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, Tuscan Omelet, German Oven Pancakes, Fruit Crepes and the usual fare of pancakes, omelets, waffles and eggs (Prices $6 – $11).
Freshly made soups are served for lunch and a variety of salads, including Tropical Spinach Salad, Caesar or Shrimp Salad. The Tuscany Panini with grilled chicken breast, peppers, fresh spinach, garlic mayo on Italian Panini bread or the Cuban Press, oven roasted pork, baked ham, Swiss cheese are grilled to perfection.
